Weisbaden Plaques

Image
Steve had a lovely apartment in downtown Wiesbaden. It was walking distance to shopping, restaurants, hikes, spas, and everything in between.  While walking down the street, I noticed plaques in the cobblestones outside several of the homes and so stopped to look at them. It was quite sobering. The plaques had the names of the people who had lived in the homes and stated the date they were taken by the Nazi's during WWII.  Even more sobering, these cobblestone plaques are all over the town.

The beginning of our Germany Adventure

So, it started in 2018. Steve started working for Abbott in Wiesbaden. Thinking it would be short-term, I continued working in Illinois and we traveled to see each other. My first visit was in September and October - just in time for Oktoberfest in Munich! But first there were things to do and see before getting to Munich. First night there, we walked to a free music festival in downtown Wiesbaden! To drink, you had to show your ID and get a bracelet. Then you paid a 2 euro deposit for a plastic mug. It was great! No plastic cups strewn about after the concert because you would return the mug for your deposit. Taste of Chicago should do this. After that, we had two weeks to play in Germany!
